Most countertop companies do not do plumbing. You get new countertops, then you call a separate plumber to install the sink. Two trips, two bills, two schedules to coordinate. At The Granite House, we do countertop, sink, and plumbing in the same visit. One crew handles everything.
Here is something most homeowners do not realize until they start shopping: an undermount sink is literally mounted under the stone countertop. The stone is cut with a precise opening, the sink is attached to the underside with clips and adhesive, and the whole assembly is set as one unit. You cannot install one without the other.
When a separate company installs your countertop and a separate plumber installs your sink, you get two people who were not there for each other's work. If the sink does not line up perfectly with the cutout, whose problem is it? If there is a leak a week later, who do you call? When one crew does everything, there is one phone number and zero finger-pointing.
At The Granite House, we fabricate the sink cutout, mount the sink, set the countertop, connect the drain, reconnect the supply lines, install the faucet if requested, and test for leaks — all in the same visit. Your kitchen has running water when we leave.
We install all major sink types with stone countertops. Each type has different cutout requirements and mounting methods.
The most popular choice in Charlotte — and for good reason. The sink mounts under the stone, so there is no rim sitting on top. Water and crumbs wipe straight from the countertop into the sink with no lip to catch debris. The stone edge is exposed around the sink opening, which highlights the material and creates a seamless look.
Best for: Any stone countertop. Single-basin and double-basin options. By far the most requested sink type at our Charlotte shop.
The statement sink. A farmhouse sink has a deep basin and an exposed front panel (apron) that sits flush with the cabinet face. The countertop stone is fabricated with a special cutout that the sink drops into from above. Requires careful templating because the sink and cabinet opening must align precisely.
Best for: Larger kitchens, traditional or modern farmhouse designs. Trending hard in Charlotte neighborhoods like Dilworth, NoDa, and South End.
Also called a top-mount or self-rimming sink. It drops into a cutout and sits on top of the stone with a visible rim. Less common with stone countertops because the rim interrupts the clean look. But it is the most budget-friendly option and easiest to replace later.
Best for: Budget-conscious projects, rental properties, or situations where you want to reuse an existing drop-in sink.
A smaller sink — typically 15" to 18" — designed for kitchen islands, wet bars, or prep stations. Undermount bar sinks are the most common. The cutout is smaller, but the mounting and plumbing work is the same. If your island has a bar sink, we handle it as part of the countertop installation.
Best for: Kitchen islands with a secondary sink, home bars, butler's pantries.
From template to running water — everything happens with one team.
We template your space and help you choose a sink model that fits your countertop layout. We confirm sink dimensions, cutout placement, and faucet hole positioning before anything gets cut.
Your stone slab is CNC-cut with the precise sink cutout built in. Undermount cutouts are polished on the inside edge because they are visible from above. The cutout is sized to your specific sink model — not a generic opening.
We install the countertop, mount the sink with clips and silicone, connect the drain and supply lines, install the faucet if requested, and run water to test for leaks. Done in one day.
The sink material matters as much as the countertop material. Here is what Charlotte homeowners are choosing in 2026:
Still the most popular by far. Durable, easy to clean, works with every countertop color and material. 16-gauge and 18-gauge are the most common thicknesses. Charlotte homeowners overwhelmingly choose stainless for primary kitchen sinks — it is affordable, proven, and looks good with both granite and quartz.
Trending up fast in Charlotte. Fireclay sinks are thick, heavy, and have a matte white finish that does not chip easily. They make a statement — especially as an apron-front farmhouse sink paired with quartzite or marble countertops. More expensive than stainless but built to last decades.
Made from crushed granite and acrylic resin. Extremely durable, scratch-resistant, and available in colors that match granite countertops. Will not show water spots like stainless can. A strong choice if you want a cohesive stone-on-stone look. Brands like Blanco and Kraus are the most common in Charlotte.
